Behind the Business: Why I Decided to Just Go for It

For the longest time, I wanted to open a business. Entrepreneurship is something I admire and literally dream about everyday. I find it so amazing when people create a life they love, doing what they love. In fact, I love it so much that I decided to major in Entrepreneurship in college. However in 2017, everything changed. I was approaching my college graduation, I outgrew my once loved passion for baking, and I started to get anxiety about life after school. I felt like I couldn't be an entrepreneur because I 'had' to get a job just like every other college graduate.

So, I did what everyone else did. I spent almost 9 months looking for a full-time job before I actually landed my first offer. You think someone, who spent 9 months looking for a job, would be happy about finally getting one right? Nope. I wasn't even excited about getting this job because it was nothing I actually wanted to do. Long story short, I left that full-time job within less than 2 weeks of being there, and I was jobless. That's when I decided to stop wishing for my dreams and start working for them. In that moment, I realized that I am the only person who can make my dreams happen.

If you are looking for a sign to start chasing your dreams, here it is! Go after what it is that you want in life because no one else can do it for you. It won't always be easy or handed to you on a silver plate, but it will be worth it. You just have to decide to go for it.

  • Now I know how frustrating it is to be on the job hunt for so long and not having any luck. It took me almost 9 months to look for a job (except it was for part-time) and I had to go through a lot of rejections with the less experience I had until one company finally took a chance on me. Hopefully your business can be able to thrive and hope you’ll find future success!
